The Lesson

Nadezhda is an upstanding schoolteacher who is about to lose her home if she doesn't come up with money for the mortgage. Whether it's because of her drink-fuddled husband, incompetent boss, indifferent students, or uncaring father, Nadezhda's circumstances become increasingly dire as she resorts to more desperate measures. What began as a classroom lesson about morals turns into a dispassionate look into life in austerity-ridden Europe.
